  66. This package contains the Windows Screen Saver, Photo Show 3D, by
  67. Progressive Logic.  This document contains only a brief description of
  68. the package and its features, along with instructions for its
  69. installation.  Quite detailed documentation is included in the package,
  70. but it is in archived form, and is more easily read after installation.

  72. PHOTO SHOW 3D is a Windows 3.1 and 95 screen saver that maps a BMP or PCX
  73. image to the surface of a 3D object and tumbles it across the screen. It
  74. requires a 386 or faster processor. Registration includes a copy of the
  75. latest registered version, JPEG image support, an assortment of sample
  76. image files and samples of other programs when available.

  78. Photo Show 3D is a shareware program.  This evaluation version includes
  79. all features of the program, with the exceptionn of JPG support, and is
  80. not crippled in any way.  You may use it for up to 30 days, without
  81. charge (see the on-line help for more details).  If you like the program,
  82. and wish to continue its use after this evaluation period, you are
  83. required to pay for the program (see ORDER.TXT for more details).  Any
  84. fee you may have paid to others (disk vendors, dealers, etc.) to obtain
  85. this evaluation version was a fee for their copying and distribution
  86. services, rather than a payment for continued use of the program.

  130. There is an extensive online help that you may access from
  131. the configuration dialog so this file contains only the
  132. information needed to get you started.

  134. You use Program Manager to install Photo Show 3D.  From the
  135. menu, select "File" and then "Run".  Next you type "x:SETUP"
  136. replacing x with the drive the floppy is in (usually A).  If
  137. you have downloaded PS3D from a BBS or an online service such
  138. as Compuserve it will probably be on your hard drive so you
  139. would then also include the name of the directory it is in.
  140.  
  141. Below is information on configuring Photo Show 3D for
  142. Windows 3.1 and Windows 95 users.
  143.  
  144. For Windows 3.1 users
  145. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
  146. You must first run Control Panel.  Usually it's in the Main
  147. group.  Then from the Control Panel you must run Desktop.
  148. In the Desktop setup dialog you first select Photo Show 3D
  149. as the current screen saver and then click on the Setup
  150. button to bring up the Photo Show 3D Configuration Dialog.

  153. For Windows 95 users
  154. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
  155. Move your cursor to any clear space on your desktop,
  156. then click on the right mouse button and choose Properties.
  157. Click on the Screen Saver tab and choose the PS3D Screen
  158. Saver selection from the menu.  Use the Settings to adjust
  159. the features. Pick Preview to test the screen saver, or OK
  160. to save the settings.  Click on the help button for
  161. additional information.

  164. This version of Photo Show 3D uses Microsoft's new WinG fast
  165. graphics library for Windows to support systems running any 
  166. number of colors from 16 to 16 Million.  The first time you 
  167. run a WinG application at any given screen resolution it will 
  168. display a box with an strange abstract pattern that it uses 
  169. to test for the fastest way to update the screen on your 
  170. system.  You should only see it the first time you run the 
  171. program at that resolution.
  172.  
  173. If Photo Show 3D seems to run for a few seconds and then quit 
  174. without displaying an image there is a problem with the WinG 
  175. installation.  All of the WinG files MUST be in the SYSTEM 
  176. directory to run correctly and there can be no extra copies 
  177. in other directories, especially the WINDOWS directory.  
  178. If you are running it on a networked system WinG MUST be 
  179. installed into the server's SYSTEM directory.  This is a 
  180. limitation of the WinG library which I unfortunately have 
  181. no control over and I apologize for any inconvenience it may
  182. cause you.

  184. If you receive an error message stating that CTL3D or 
  185. CTL3DV2 has been installed incorrectly it only means that 
  186. there is more than one copy of the file CTL3DV2.DLL on your 
  187. system.  All you have to do to correct the problem is to 
  188. delete all but one copy.  If there is a copy in the 
  189. \WINDOWS\SYSTEM\ directory, that is the one you should keep.  
  190. It should be safe for you to delete all other copies.  If 
  191. there is not a copy in that directory there should be one 
  192. in the \WINDOWS\ directory.

  194. CAUTION: CTL3D.DLL and CTL3DV2.DLL should not be considered 
  195.          copies of the same file.  If you have both of these 
  196.          files on your system you should be careful to keep 
  197.          one copy of each.
